M. Wood); 5/ India General Service Medal 1908-35 GVR clasps: AFG NWF 1919 & WAZ 1919-21 ('Capt E.H.M Wood, S & T, C'); 6/ General Service Medal, GVR, clasp 'Iraq' ('Capt E.D.M Wood' - incorrect middle initial an official mistake); 7/ 1937 Coronation (unnamed as issued). Ernest Henry Marshall Wood, born Cheltenham, UK 1883. Previous service with Volunteer Bn pre WWI. Enl BEF 7/9/14 Army Service Corps. Service in Ireland 1915 as SQMS. Commissioned 15/9/15. To Gallipoli Sept 1915, Suvla & ANZAC, 'C' Beach & ADST, L. of Comm Mudros. To France thence to Indian Army as Captain & service in the North West Frontier & Mesopotamian Campaigns. To Australia 1924. Worked as a jackeroo in Qld & purchased land at Sale, Victoria. Assistant to Brit Govt Rep for Immigration Staff of High Commission for UK in Canberra 1931. An active member of the RSL. To New Zealand, again with High Commission Officer in 1939. Chief Cypher Officer in Wellington, NZ (coding & decoding) throughout WWII. Awarded MBE. Jan 1947. Returned to UK & died 1959. Together with 4 original press photos showing Wood & other dignitaries outside Parliament House, Canberra ca1930-35 for ANZAC/Armistice Commemorations.
