Enl 45th Inf Ban 19/6/41. To 2/AIF 22/8/42. To Port Moresby with 2/10th Inf Bn & Ops. New Guinea from 22/6/45 to 15/8/45. RTA with 2/16th Inf Bn Nov '45 & disch 24/5/46. Enl CMF as Lieut 31/12/52. Adj 5th Field Amb 1953 to 6th NSW Mounted Rifles 1/7/53. 6th Inf Bn 1/7/54 Captain 31/5/56. Full time duty with 6th Bn 15/1/59 & to 1st Bn RVR 1/7/60. Staff group southern command 1960. To UK training 1961-62. Retired 9/8/62. Pacific Star & Medals issued 1951 to Sydney University Regt, NSW. EM sent to recipient 1966 as 'Capt J.G Ryan, TD, 6 Chester Ave, Whitehead, Co Antrim, N. Ireland'. ED with its case of issue & in its card box of posting comp with Army Medal Office (War Office) letter to Ryan. On original ribbons. EF/gEF.
