20764 Click for more photos | Japan. ca.1700-1800 Rare Japanese Samurai Kabuto helmet, Dating from the mid to late 1700's period, however the main bowl seems to date earlier & could be late C16th-C17th. 8 russet plate iron bowl with red lacquer to underside of peak. Decorative 3 part tehen or top fitting. Turn backs on each side covered in leather suede & adorned with a Mon family crest. 4 stage neck lames in black lacquered iron with dark blue lacing. Hemp cloth lining, but badly worn with many holes. O Some age wear, o/a GC. Still a fine & impressive collectors item. Seldom seen on the Australian market & should attract international interest.
