Ukiyo-e original multi-coloured woodblock print triptych, 'Chinese Navy Final Defeat: After the fall of Weihaiwei, Admiral Ting Ju-chang (Ding Ruchang 1836-95), Commander of the Beiyang Fleet (Chinese Navy) surrenders to his Japanese counterpart Admiral Ito Sukeyuki' 13 Feb 1894 by Migita Toshihide (1863-1925). It depicts an imaginary scene that Admiral Ting Ju-chang, accompanied by other Chinese Navy Officers & their British consultants, surrenders to their Japanese counterpart on 13 Feb 1895. In fact Admiral Ting committed suicide the day before (12 Feb 1895). His biography is included. Also inc biography Admiral Ito Sukeyuki (approx 37.5x73cm). Odd margin soiling o/w VGC. This is a typical textbook woodblock print of this topic used as an illustration in Admiral Ito Sukeyuki's Wikipedia biography.
