Japan 1894-95. Sino-Japanese War. Ukiyo-e original multi-coloured woodblock print triptych, 'Japanese Army and Navy Fight Bravely in the Battle of Asan (Seongwan, Korea', 3am-5am 29 Jul 1894, artist unknown. It depicts the Japanese Army firing guns & cannons & tracking the fleeing Chinese Army with the red & green Military flags in the far left of the painting. It also shows the Japanese Navy approaching its Chinese enemies with the warships Soukou, Kowowotsu, Yaiwen, while its transport ship has been fired & is sinking. It paints the Japanese Army Officers in black uniform & white pants, with the Japanese soldiers in white & Chinese in red (approx 35x72cm). Edges have been trimmed, design unaffected o/w GC.
