Ukiyo-e original multi-coloured woodblock print triptych, 'Terrible War of Lieutenant-Commander Sakamoto (killed in action), Leader of the Imperial Warship Akagi, Who Fights Bravely', 17 Sep 1894, by Toshikata Mizuno (1866-1908). It depicts Commander Hachirota Sakamoto (29 Jan 1854 - 17 Sep 1894) killed in action, translated Wikipedia provided), positions his warship Akagi (Wikipedia profile provided) waves his sword during the Yellow Sea (Yalu River) Battle of Sino-Japanese War & organises an attack toward the enemy warships. An injured soldier bandages his wound, on his right, other crew members of vessel are taking the Commander's instruction. Thick smoke comes out of the deck possibly due to being hit by the Chinese warships. From the far point the Chinese warships are either catching fire or sinking (approx 35.7x69.3cm).
