(The vendor's father bought a pane or sheet of the stamp in Toowoomba at time of issue for normal postage use, and noticed missing value only after having used up most of the stamps for postage - all of which must have been discarded by recipients as none have previously been reported. 1404 Click for more photos | Postcard: 1904-08 QV 1d black ESSAY showing 'Viaduct near Adelaide' but at a diff angle of view to the issued 'View of Southern Railway'. Also all lines of text (ex POST CARD) are of diff font letters & spacing. Superb fresh UN, tiny retouched surface scuff almost invisible. (Also included with lot is private PPC view closer perspective & photo copy of issued card). According to some sources this essay is believed to have been produced by JB Cooke in the 1904-08 period as proposal for Commonwealth of Australia postcards but was later used as basis for the 1908 SA view cards but with changed view & inscriptions. (Cover addressed to Mrs Gertrude Anderson, & according to earlier owner's research, was carried on the Norwegian ship 'Trio' which called at Tristan on 11 December 1917. It was sent by Agnes Glass on 26 Nov 1917 to Gertrude Anderson thanking her for a parcel she had sent to the island, & giving details about herself & the island, which was then published by Mrs Anderson in 'The Times' on 1 January 1918. While that original letter is not present here, the lot contains a letter written by Mrs Anderson to J.
