1941 Censored Airmail cover with "Sydney 3 DEC 41" franking machine 3/11 imprint for ½oz to Canada, with censor tape & h/s plus "California Clipper" h/s. The last flight left Auckland on 25th Nov, but suspension of the service not announced until 18th Dec, so sender paid for airmail, but was sent seamail, so grossly overpaid! (P)

Military WWI: 1917 (Jul-Sep) covers (3) from Koondrook franked 1d red (rough paper crimson shade, or smooth paper rose shades, 2 varieties RA joined or damaged LR frame) to Sgt Val W. Kelly, each with m/s "Killed in Action", returned via Sydney Victoria Barracks (2) showing large "OVER" h/s (57x21mm or 51x17mm) & framed or unframed "Returned " h/s; or via Melbourne with part "DECEASED" & pointed hand "Returned..", minor toning, attractive.
